SAPS Boosts Frontline Policing with 3,558 New Constables in Nationwide Ceremony

The South African Police Service (SAPS) significantly bolstered its capacity for grassroots crime combatting today, welcoming 3,558 newly trained constables into its ranks. The large-scale induction was marked by simultaneous passing-out parades held across five police academies nationwide.

The main ceremony took place at the SAPS Academy Tshwane in Gauteng, where Acting Police Minister, Professor Firoz Cachalia, officiated the parade for 2,036 graduates. He was joined by the National Commissioner of the SAPS, General Fannie Masemola, affirming the leadership’s commitment to reinforcing frontline policing efforts.

The initiative forms a core part of the organization’s strategy to increase visibility and response capabilities at the local level. The simultaneous events demonstrated a unified national effort to accelerate the deployment of skilled personnel.
