AmaZulu FC have already begun preparations for the 2026/27 season, starting by showing the door to players they no longer require.

The first name to surface among the players who have parted ways with the club is Bongani "Ben 10" Zungu. He was followed by Elmo Kambindu, who arrived with high expectations from Chippa United to bang in the goals, but it was not to be.

Recently, Thabiso Kutumela’s name has also come up, with reports that his contract will not be renewed. He made 17 appearances across all competitions, scoring just two goals.

Ghanaian goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who joined Usuthu in September 2024, is another player who won't be returning next season.

PoliPlay News has caught wind that there are several other players who will no longer wear the Usuthu jersey. This includes Gustavo Viera Lopes, who was signed from Ferroviário de Beira in the lower divisions of Mozambique.

Yanga Mjoli has also been officially released after a series of loan spells. Last season, he was with Kruger United, the newly crowned champions of the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC).

Siphephelo "General" Majola is also on his way out. Word is that his persistent injury struggles made it difficult for the club to keep him. He was previously loaned out to uMvoti FC in the Safa KZN ABC Motsepe League and was recalled when he looked ripe, but he never got a proper chance due to being constantly sidelined.

"You won't be seeing any of these players at AmaZulu FC next season. Another player the axe was meant for is Ryan Moon, but the issue is that he signed a three-year contract and still has two years left. If they sack him now, the club will have to pay a hefty settlement fee," a source revealed.

The source further indicated that while Hendrick Pule Ekstein’s contract expires at the end of this month, he is definitely going to renew it.

When contacted for comment regarding the players' departures, AmaZulu FC spokesperson Philani "Pro" Ndlela said he could neither confirm nor deny the reports, as he has not yet been briefed on the matter.
