On a vibrant morning in KwaZulu-Natal, the sun rose high in a clear blue sky, signaling the start of one of the year's most awaited events, the Spar Women’s Race in Durban. The temperature was a comfortable early 20s Celsius, providing an ideal atmosphere for runners to push for their best.
Glenrose Supercharge Xaba, a name synonymous with excellence in women’s running, showcased her formidable skills once again. On June 22, 2025, she crossed the finish line victorious in the 25th edition of the Spar Women’s Race, clocking an impressive 31:54. This victory not only reinforced her champion status but also highlighted her dedication to Athletics.
This year’s race was a fierce contest, attracting top athletes eager to claim the title. Diniya Abaraya, representing Nedbank, followed closely, finishing in 32:09. Selam Gebre, also from Nedbank, secured third place with a time of 32:25. Such stiff competition intensified the excitement of the race, making it a true celebration of women’s athletics.
